Lashes worth another chance over optimum trip?

Todays Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh looks set to be an absolute cracker, with last year's Oaks winner Look Here taking on Dar Re Mi, Katiyra and Lush Lashes, who will be bidding to bounce back to form.

No front-runners here but with some proven stayers in the field it would be a surprise if one of those don't go on. Dar Re Mi is a strong stayer at this trip and Jimmy Fotune would not want this to turn into a test of speed. Therefore, it would be little surprise to see him press on and try and make all the running.

Katiyra and Lush Lashes are the speedier sorts in the line up and both should be very prominent throughout. Lush Lashes was the leading filly last season and is a very versatile type with Group 1 wins ranging from 1m-1m4f. It may be that the straight 1m at Ascot last time out was on the sharp side for her and she is worth another chance to show her best now back over what is probably her optimum trip.

Look Here was an impressive winner of the Oaks last season, and she is a very consistent type who usually runs her race. However, all her best form is over further than this trip and she always impresses as a very stout stayer at the longer trip. I'm not convinced shewill have the speed for the drop back in trip in this smaller field and while she will be doing all her best work at the finish, she may struggle to peg back the leaders.

Front-runners: None

Prominent: Beach Bunny, Dar Re Mi, Katiyra, Lush Lashes, Roman Empress

Mid-division: Jakarta Jazz

Held-up: Look Here

3:40 Curragh AUDI PRETTY POLLY STAKES (GROUP 1)(3yo+) Winner €135,000 CH4
Soft 1m2f

1) [image] -32 Beach Bunny 4 9-9 Kevin Prendergast - C D Hayes
Very useful filly, effective at between 1m and 1m4f; won three races last season, including 1m1f Listed event at this venue; not disgraced when fourth of nine behind Promising Lead in this a year ago, and another fine effort when 4l second to Katiyra in the Group 2 Blandford Stakes; placed on both starts in 1m Group 3 races this term, but nothing to suggest that she can win at this level.
2) [image] 3-2 Dar Re Mi 4 9-9 J H M Gosden - Jimmy Fortune
Smart middle-distance filly at three last season; followed up wins in a Listed race at Newmarket and a Group 3 event at Deauville with two seconds at Group 1 level, behind Lush Lashes in the Yorkshire Oaks and behind the brilliant Zarkava in the Prix Vermeille; beaten favourite for the Prix de Royallieu on final start; concern that this trip is a little short of her best following short-head defeat by the progressive Crystal Capella on reappearance at York.
3) [image] 13- Katiyra 4 9-9 John M Oxx - M J Kinane
Third to Look Here in last year´s Oaks on only third run of her career; managed only fifth in Irish equivalent, but made amends when dropped in distance, winning a Listed race at Gowran and the Group 2 Blandford Stakes over this course and trip; ended the season with a fine third behind Lady Marian and Lush Lashes in the Prix de l´Opera; has won on heavy, but acts on good ground.
4) [image] 3-3 Look Here 4 9-9 R M Beckett Seb Sanders
Top-class filly who got the trip really well when beating subsequent Irish Oaks winner Moonstone and Katiyra in the Oaks at Epsom; had an interrupted preparation before finishing third to Conduit in the St Leger; comes here in proven form having producedan excellent display when beaten a nose and the same behind vastly experienced pair Ask and Youmzain in the Coronation Cup; shorter trip provides the main question mark here.
5) [image] -36 Lush Lashes 4 9-9 J S Bolger - K J Manning
Enjoyed a splendid campaign last year after finishing fifth to Look Here in the Oaks; won three Group 1 races, the Coronation Stakes, the Yorkshire Oaks and the Matron at Leopardstown, and finished second in the Nassau and the Prix l´Opera; had an unfortunate experience in the Hong Kong Cup and now has something to prove after first two outings of the season; could be excused defeat in the heavy in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, though less easy to overlook below-par run in the Windsor Forest.
6) [image] 143 Jakarta Jazz 3 8-11 Kevin Prendergast - D P McDonogh Has made the frame in two attempts at Group 3 level since a narrow win in an auction maiden over 1m at Navan in April; rated 12lb superior to the other three-year-old runner, but still a long way short of the standard required.
7) [image] -81 Roman Empress 3 8-11 A P O´Brien - J Murtagh
Raced only once at two, though started current campaign with good home reputation, only to disappoint when favourite for a Leopardstown maiden; faces massive rise in class after a recent win at Limerick that earnd an official rating of 84; very hard to see her being competitive.

BETTING FORECAST: 2/1 Look Here, 11/4 Dar Re Mi, 100/30 Katiyra, 9/2 Lush Lashes, 16/1 Beach Bunny, 20/1 Roman Empress, 25/1 Jakarta Jazz.
